Subversive Discourse

Subversive Discourse

Inspiring Thoughtful & Thought-Provoking Discussion

Zoom Gatherings

Every other week we will be hosting a nationwide Meetup.com event called “Subversive Discourse on Zoom.” The format of this event has not yet been determined, but there will be a designated moderator who loosely guides the discussion, creates space for everyone to contribute, and ensures everyone follows the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. guidelines below:

R = take RESPONSIBILITY for what you think, feel, and say without blaming others
E = use EMPATHETIC listening to understand where others are coming from
S = be SENSITIVE to differences in personality, communication styles, and belief stems
P = PONDER what you hear from others rather than rushing to respond
E = carefully EXAMINE your own assumptions, perceptions, and biases
C = keep CONFIDENTIALITY, especially when people share personal matters in their lives
T = TRUST one another to have a good faith discussion instead of a combative debate

More details coming in the weeks ahead.

If interested, please get in touch with us through the Contact form.

Carson serves as a writer and podcast host as well as the Editor-in-Chief for both Subversive Discourse and The Sacred Humanists. He holds a B.S. in History from Toccoa Falls College and later attended graduate school at Baylor University. Weaned as a belligerent "dittohead" whose bluster far exceeded his knowledge, Carson became a dedicated student of the humanities who deeply values truth, beauty, and goodness wherever it is to found. This resulted in apologies to a great many people for having been a well-intentioned yet self-righteous fool. Carson has an equal love for nerd and sports culture. He and his beloved wife, Alicia, live in the Houston area and are now expecting their first child. Inspired by the model of Abraham Lincoln, Carson continually strives to become a more knowledgeable, wiser, healthier, and better man.
